Clearly, there is no way I could have looked into food processors without taking a good long look at something (or a couple things) from Ninja. I’ll be honest, before they were all the rage, the only way I knew about Ninjas was because I would sit up late at night with my then-infant daughter while informercials were playing. Some really enthusiastic and super thin people insisted the Ninja was better than every other product on the market, and who am I to argue?
Now that I’m searching the food processor market, there was no option but to add one of these bad boys to my ever growing list. The Ninja Mega Kitchen System (BL770) does so much more than just blending, and I cannot get enough of the ideas and possibilities that seem to be all wrapped up in one super awesome package.
Get So Much
One of the things I didn’t realize from looking at all these products is that you can get systems with more than just a food processor. Basically, you can kill a whole bunch of kitchen appliances with just one stone. The Ninja Mega Kitchen System comes with a blender, a processor, and the smaller blending cups you can take with you instead of pouring the goodness you made out of the big pitcher and dirtying a travel cup. So very cool.
But Oh, The Process-a-bilities
The other things the Mega System can do are great, but the processor on this is intense. It can handle the chopping most people get it for, but it can also make doughs and pastes for baking like a pro. If you’re making specialized doughs for food allergies or you want a powerful processor so you just don’t have to do as much work, you can get it all here.
Nutrients Are Your Friends
One of the really great things about Ninjas is they do more than just chop. They are actually better for making sure you keep all the nutrients that are in your healthy foods. It can actually extract vitamins from the things you make to ensure they stay in the delicious concoctions the Ninja yields.
Paying More But Getting A Lot
The Ninja Mega Kitchen System has a whole lot going for it. This is a pricier option than a typical small food processor. You can get an 8-cup processor only for $50-$80 in a lot of cases. So what make this one worth $100 more? Put simply: Everything. So many things come in this one box. You get three full machines, and you don’t have to buy them all separately. In fact, springing for them all separately would cost a whole lot more than just buying this set. You won’t save a lot if you have some or all of the tools already, but if you’re trying to do it all in one place, you can get more bang for your buck by springing for what’s in this box.
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. I care a lot about how products work, but I care even more that the company that makes them stands behind them. It’s really important to me. I don’t want to buy anything that doesn’t get the vote of confidence from the people who actually made it. That makes perfect sense to me. Anyway, it seems like the Ninja does not have the kind of support that you should get with an expensive item. I know that the product is sturdy enough and that it’s unlikely to need to call in for warranty work, but if you’re unlucky enough to get one of the lot with a bowl that cracks or a motor that gives out, it can be tough to get the company to agree to do anything about it.
Wobbly Warranty, but Worth It Anyway
It’s pretty difficult to get the company to back up the warranty on the Ninja Mega Kitchen System, but it has received awesome reviews overall with only a relatively small number of complaints, so maybe I just take my chances. To me, the idea of one machine that does it all and can save me under-counter space is pretty enticing. I really like the idea of the power and the convenience, and it could be the perfect solution to a lot of kitchen needs. There is so much going for it, it’s definitely on my shortlist.
